Meet Arnold Bu: Compassionate, Personalized Psychiatric Mental Health Care

At Intuitive Counseling, we believe effective mental health care begins with trust, understanding, and genuine connection. Patients deserve to feel comfortable discussing their concerns and confident that their experiences will be approached with compassion and respect.
We are pleased to introduce Arnold Bu, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, whose approach reflects these values through thoughtful, individualized care.
With a background in both psychology and nursing, Arnold brings a well-rounded perspective to mental health treatment. He strives to create a warm, judgment-free environment where patients can speak openly, ask questions, and take an active role in their care.
Meet Arnold Bu
Arnold’s educational background reflects his longstanding interest in both the psychological and clinical dimensions of mental health. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and later completed a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Nova Southeastern University. He went on to earn his master’s degree from St. Thomas University before becoming a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
This combination of psychology and nursing allows Arnold to consider mental health from multiple perspectives while remaining attentive to each patient’s unique experiences, concerns, and goals.
A Patient-Centered Approach
Seeking psychiatric care can feel unfamiliar or intimidating, particularly when someone is unsure how to describe what they are experiencing. Arnold approaches these conversations with patience and curiosity, allowing individuals the space to share their concerns at a pace that feels comfortable.
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, he works to understand the broader context of a patient’s life. Personal history, relationships, daily stressors, responsibilities, and individual goals can all shape emotional well-being and inform the care process.
This patient-centered approach helps create a stronger foundation for meaningful and collaborative treatment.
What Patients Can Expect
Every patient enters care with a different story, which is why Arnold avoids a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, he emphasizes communication, collaboration, and personalized support throughout the process.
Patients can expect:
Attentive listening: Time and space to discuss concerns, experiences, and goals openly.
Individualized care: An approach shaped by each person’s needs rather than a standardized treatment model.
Collaborative conversations: Opportunities to ask questions, express preferences, and participate actively in decisions about care.
A respectful environment: Support that is compassionate, professional, and free from judgment.
A broader perspective on well-being: Consideration of the many factors that can influence mental and emotional health.
Looking Beyond Symptoms
Mental health concerns rarely exist in isolation. Emotional well-being can affect sleep, motivation, relationships, academic or professional responsibilities, physical health, and everyday functioning. In the same way, life circumstances and stressors can significantly influence how a person feels and copes.
Arnold’s background in psychology and nursing supports an approach that recognizes these connections. By considering the larger picture, he aims to help patients develop a clearer understanding of their mental health and identify meaningful ways to support their overall well-being.
The Importance of Collaboration
Strong mental health care is not simply about receiving recommendations. It is also about creating an ongoing conversation between patient and provider.
Arnold values collaboration because patients bring essential knowledge about their own experiences, priorities, and concerns. When individuals feel comfortable asking questions and participating in their care, the process can become more transparent, responsive, and empowering.
His goal is to build a therapeutic relationship in which patients feel respected and supported as they work toward greater mental and emotional wellness.
A Current Opportunity for Self-Pay Clients
Intuitive Counseling is currently offering a special promotion for self-pay clients, making this an especially good time to explore care with Arnold.
